My husband and I go to Ruidoso several times a year.   We've experienced every
season.   With as often as we come, we
still haven't seen or done all there is to do in
Ruidoso.   But, we know all too well the challenging question of "
What should we do
there?
"   So, to make it easier for you, we've compiled a list of our favorites.
Perhaps it can help you plan a bit.

What Do You Do In Ruidoso?
What Do You Do In Ruidoso?
Farley's is great...burgers,
homecooking....very "Chilie's" -like.

The River's Edge is one of our regular
stops.  We LOVE it.  It's custom made
"wraps"... meat/veggie filled tortillas,
made to your specifications.  TONS of
choices.

Michelino's is great home Italian
food...pizza, pasta, etc.   "Pizza parlor"
atmosphere (brass, checkered table
cloths, wooden booths, photographs,
etc).  Cheap.   Good food.

Books-n-Beans is one of our favorites,
too, for lunch.   Unique sandwiches, a
HUGE variety of teas, cappuccinos,
coffees, you name it...and it's a gift
shop and bookstore, too.

Sweet Retreat is the candy/ice cream
store is a regular spot for us.   Fudge,
a wide variety of gourmet candy, old
fashioned candy, etc.

Lincoln County Grill is great food,
too.  Outside seating, "greasy spoon".

The Pasta Cafe is very much like the
Olive Garden.  Excellent Italian food,
wonderful atmosphere.  Pricing isn't
cheap and not expensive.

The
Circle J BBQ restaurant.  It's a
red barn looking restaurant,
solely
called "BBQ"
.  It's the BEST BBQ we've
had!
!   WONDERFUL!!

The Log Cabin restaurant  seems to be
'the spot to go' for breakfasts in the
mornings.   Get there early...it fills up
quickly.   Wonderful omelettes,
pancakes, you name it.   Excellent
'down home' hospitality....a great
place to go.

The Village Buttery is great for
homemade quiches, sandwiches, fresh
fruit, soups, homemade pies, and
other 'brunch' type foods.  Delicious!

Le Bistro is the local 'French' cafe in
town.

Sacred Grounds is the coffee shop that
we love going to for lattes,
cappuccinos, coffee, hot cocoa, baked
goods, etc.

Casa Blanca has fabulous
Southwest/Mexican food.  Coming
from San Antonio and Texmex, we're
pretty picky about mexican food.
This is one of our new favorites!   Be
sure to order the 'green chile strips' for
an appetizer!
Flying J Ranch is SO MUCH FUN!!
Great for an evening out.  BBQ, live
country music from awarded
musicians, 'gun show', shops to mill
through, pony rides for the kids, and
more.

Bonito Lake for fishing, picnics,
camping, hiking, and just people
watching.

Horseback riding at
Grindstone
Stables.

Hiking and having a picnic at
Monjeau Lookout!!  Click here to see
all our photos of it and our picnic
there.

Drive to Cloudcroft in the evening to
see Elk and wild horses.

In the winter, drive along the road to
Cloudcroft....perfect road side areas
along the way for sledding!

Go to the ski slopes in the early
evening (in summer) to see the Elk
come out.

fishing in the Rio Ruidoso

Casino

Horse races

golf

request a map of local gold mines

go see the town of Lincoln...about a
20-30 minute drive...where Billy the
Kid committed his murders.  The
buildings are original, and fascinating!!
